Digital Twin

To further enhance our predictions of future battery performance and degradation from logged data, we are working with the world class researchers at Imperial College to develop and embed a  real-time battery Digital Twin capability within our EV-OPS platform

This will be a detailed multi-region multi-physics model, simulating the electrochemical behaviour of each battery cell coupled with a three-dimensional thermal solver to model the thermal behaviour of each cell. Electrical and thermal connections representative of the physical pack, will form a module-level model with a direct numerical simulation employed to simulate the cooling system. The multi-physics nature of the model will ensure realistic scenarios by coupling electrochemical, heat transfer and fluid flow phenomena whilst preserving the regional differences at the cell level and module level in terms of current, state of charge, temperature and thus degradation.

With the EV-OPS platform already deployed on a wide range  of vehicles we will initially be trialling this new twin digital functionally with two existing customers: LEVC on their taxis and new vans and JSC Automotive on their new passenger cars and making it available to other customers later next year.
